The Virtual Chatter for the Week of August 18, 2015

Dear Friends,

“So, whatever you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31

Last night I heard that the headmaster at a local school said, when introducing the school’s athletes to the community, “We have a lot of around here, and since all our talent comes from God, we should do everything we do to the glory of God.” Isn’t that a wonderful reminder for the kids and those in that community? Everything we do is to be done to the glory of God because everything we are and everything we have came from him.

The Virtual Chatter for August 10, 2015

Good morning friends,

“Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed; he will answer him from his holy heaven with the saving might of his right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright.” — Psalm 20:6-8

This morning I received an email devotional from The Park Forum, a devotional blog based in NYC, on these verses and how they are applied to specific problems facing our society. The author, Steven Dilla, wrote, “Few in our country believe governance and the mental resolve of the masses are sufficient to solve” the insidious problems facing us. “In this way we observe part of the words of the Psalmist: we no longer trust in chariots (governance) and horses (power). Yet few of the dominant voices in American culture would offer up ‘the Lord our God,’ as the Psalmist does, as the solution.”

How true are those words! It seems that there are hardly no voices in the public square who are prepared to say that our hope is in the name of the Lord our God. But, He is our only hope. May we be those who trust in the name of our Lord, and may we be the voices that proclaim our hope and that of our society is in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In Christ,
Clint
